ALBANIA FOLLOWS THE EXAMPLE….

Starting from the point that issues and problems related to protection of the environment should be definitely treated according to the well known “think globally – act locally”, inspired us to follow the example of Macedonia and to undertake concrete steps for initiating and facilitating the establishment of a Parliamentary group on environment in the Albanian Parliament.
For a period of just several months, intensive lobbing activities and numerous one-to-one contacts with the members of the Albanian Parliament, from both the position and opposition, proved to be fruitful…
The initiative gained support from the President of the Parliament, the Commission for Environment and of course from the deputies. The result was establishment of the Parliamentary Group on Environment in the Albanian Assembly (APGE).
Here we should not forget Civic Society Organisations, who played the initial trigger for its establishment.
Currently, members of the Albanian parliamentary group on environment are:
1. Ylli Bufi - SP (Partia Socialiste)
2. Rexhep Uka – DP (Partia Demokratike)
3. Bukurosh Stafa – LDP (Qendra Liberal Demokrate)
4. Fatmir Xhindi – LDP (Qendra Liberal Demokrate)
5. Nikollaq Nërënxi - (Partia Lëvizja Socialiste për Integrim + PDS)
6. Pilo Keri – SDP - (Partia Social Demokrate)
7. Flamur Hoxha – SP (Partia Socialiste)
The group is open for new members ….
For all deputies who, regardless to their political origin or conviction, are willing to work for improvement and protection of the environment respecting the sustainable development principles.
